Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County Named as Prestigious 2024 Hospice CAHPS Honors Elite Recipient
Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County has been named a 2024 Hospice CAHPS Honors Elite Award recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, a leading provider of CAHPS and bereavement survey programs for home health and hospice agencies.
This prestigious annual review recognizes agencies that continuously go above and beyond in providing high-quality care for patients and compassionate caregiver experiences.
“I’ve been a part of several great hospices in my career, but none provide consistent quality care like the team here at HPCIC,” President & CEO Mike Smith said. “To be one of five hospices in North Carolina — and the only one that serves our community — to achieve this level of quality is remarkable. It’s a great feeling to know their focus on quality is felt by the community. That’s why we are here. This is ultimate mission fulfillment for our organization, and they deserve all the credit!”
A community-based nonprofit organization, Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County provides physical, social, emotional and spiritual support for those with life-limiting illnesses as well as assistance with pain and symptom management for those with chronic conditions. As the most experienced and trusted provider of hospice and palliative care in Iredell County, HPCIC has been caring for neighbors in need, regardless of their ability to pay, since 1984.
The CAHPS Honors Elite Award acknowledges the highest performing agencies by analyzing the performance of the Hospice Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (CAHPS) survey satisfaction and quality measures. To qualify for this status, the hospice agency must score above the HEALTHCAREfirst National Performance Score on the Hospice CAHPS Willingness to Recommend question. If that criteria is met, performance is evaluated utilizing a set of 23 additional quality indicator measures.
These scores are then compared on a question-by question basis to a national performance score calculated from all partnering hospices contained in HEALTHCAREfirst’s Hospice CAHPS database. Special recognition, Honors Elite, is awarded to those hospices that score above the national performance score on 100 percent — or all 24 — of the evaluated questions.
“We began our Annual Hospice Honors Award program more than ten years ago as a way to highlight those agencies that are truly leading the way in providing and demonstrating quality patient care,” said Jeremy Crow, head of RCM and CAHPS Survey, Home Health and Hospice. “We congratulate Hospice & Palliative Care of Iredell County on this recognition and are so proud and honored that they have chosen to partner with us in helping drive success for their agency.”
