2024 Crime Prevention Month

October 2024

WHEREAS, the safety and security of the citizens of the City of Statesville is of utmost importance, and crime prevention is key to maintaining the quality of life we all enjoy; and

WHEREAS, the National Crime Prevention Council has declared October as National Crime Prevention Month, an opportunity to raise awareness about the impact of crime and to highlight successful crime prevention efforts nationwide; and

WHEREAS, the City of Statesville is committed to empowering our communities to join together in the fight against crime, encouraging everyone to take personal responsibility for their safety, and to work collectively to make our neighborhoods safer; and

WHEREAS, the themes of 2024 Crime Prevention Month include "Empowering Communities to Take A Bite Out of Crime," which emphasizes the importance of community involvement in reducing crime, "Crime Prevention at Home," focusing on securing homes and protecting families, "No Place For Hate," promoting inclusivity and respect, and "Intellectual Property Theft," which raises awareness of the consequences of stealing intellectual property; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Constantine H. Kutteh, Mayor of the City of Statesville, do hereby proclaim October 2024 as Crime Prevention Month in the City of Statesville, and I urge all citizens, government agencies, public and private institutions, and businesses to work together to promote crime prevention awareness and to make our community a safer place for all.
