National Waste and Recycling Workers Week

June 17-23, 2024

WHEREAS, the health and well-being of our residents is significantly impacted by the diligent work of waste and recycling workers who ensure our neighborhoods are clean and safe; and

WHEREAS, these workers perform an essential public service by managing the collection, processing, and disposal of waste and recyclable materials, thus promoting environmental sustainability and public health; and

WHEREAS, the work of waste and recycling workers often goes unrecognized, yet they work in challenging conditions and play a crucial role in maintaining the quality of life in our community; and

WHEREAS, National Waste and Recycling Workers Week provides an opportunity to acknowledge and show appreciation for the tireless efforts of these dedicated individuals; and

WHEREAS, the City of Statesville is committed to supporting waste and recycling workers by promoting safe working conditions and recognizing their contributions to a cleaner and healthier environment;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, CONSTANTINE H. KUTTEH, Mayor of the City of Statesville, North Carolina, do hereby proclaim the week of June 17-23, 2024, as National Waste and Recycling Workers Week in the City of Statesville and encourage all residents to join in expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the hard work and dedication of waste and recycling workers who serve our community.
