Water and Meeting Street Improvement Project Begins March 17

Statesville, NC – March 7, 2025 – The City of Statesville is set to begin the Water and Meeting Street Improvement Project, a vital infrastructure upgrade aimed at enhancing safety and improving traffic flow at this highly traveled intersection. Work is scheduled to begin on March 17, 2025, and is expected to take approximately two to three months to complete.

The project will convert the intersection into a three-way stop, reducing potential hazards and improving overall traffic safety. New street markings and designated stopping points will improve traffic flow and visibility, making navigation easier for motorists. The project will also include the addition of green space to enhance the aesthetics of the intersection while promoting a more pedestrian-friendly environment. To improve stormwater management and roadway durability, curb and gutter installations will also be completed.

Throughout the project, intermittent lane closures will be necessary, and drivers should expect delays. The city urges motorists to use caution, follow posted detour signs, and remain alert for construction crews working in the area.

“We understand this intersection is heavily traveled, and we appreciate the community’s patience as we complete these important improvements,” said Steve Bridges, Public Works Director. “These upgrades will enhance safety, improve visibility, and create a more pedestrian-friendly environment for everyone.”
