Production Associate

Southern Distilling Company is a family-owned company located in Statesville,

North Carolina. A high-capacity production craft distillery, the company offers

cost-competitive contract distilling services, including bulk spirits production of

custom mash bill non-GMO whiskeys, rums, and agave spirits batching and

blending of specialties and liqueurs, as well as barrel warehousing and

co-packaging services.

Summary

The Production Associate is a versatile full-time position requiring a range of

skillsets and work environments. This position is involved in cleaning, equipment

maintenance, bottling, packaging, warehousing, record keeping, mash cooking,

fermenting, distilling, and general labor. A successful candidate must have

professional communication skills, be versatile, ambitious, self-tasked and open to

a fluid daily schedule, with a keen attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain the distillery’s high standards of cleanliness and sanitation

• Operate and maintain grain handling equipment including hoppers, augers,

silos, and mill

• Operate and maintain mashing and distillation, barrel filling, and bottling

equipment

• Record daily production logs relating to mashing, distillation, sampling,

bottling, shipping and receiving

• Operate distillery management software system

• Record and report inventory

• Maintain equipment and work environment to ensure high quality operating

standards

• Communicate and organize shipping and receiving logistics

• Monitor equipment controls and report abnormal activity or safety issues

• Operate heavy equipment, such as forklift, scissor lift, and tractor

• Prioritize tasks and execute them independently

Additional qualifications

• Can lift 50 pounds

• At least 21 years old

• Valid NC Driver’s License

• Has no alcohol-related offenses on their record

• Strong orientation toward quality control and safety

• Basic knowledge of fermentation and distillation

• Communicates well with co-workers and customers

• Proven ability to work independently

• Cares about the customer and always provides exemplary customer service

• Proficient with Mac computers, Microsoft Office software, iOS apps

• Physically capable of working on feet, standing for long period of time,

sitting, climbing stairs and ladders, bending, and kneeling in an

unconditioned environment

• Strives for excellence in their work

• Maintains a high degree of professionalism in both personal and professional

life

This position is full-time and operates on a shift work schedule. Must be able to

work weekends.
